Dimensions of Construction Scaffolding

The dimensions of the construction scaffolding vary depending on the type of scaffolding, its purpose of use and the place where it will be installed. However, some standard dimensions generally used in construction scaffolding are:

Props: Props are the main load-bearing elements of the scaffolding. They are usually made of wooden or metal profiles with a cross section of 40 cm x 40 cm or 50 cm x 50 cm. The distance between uprights is usually between 1.5 m and 2.0 m.

Beams: Beams are elements where uprights are connected to each other horizontally. They are usually made of wooden or metal profiles with a cross section of 20 cm x 20 cm or 30 cm x 30 cm. Beams are used to support platforms and add rigidity to the scaffolding.

Platforms: Platforms are work areas on which workers work. They are usually made of wooden or metal planks measuring 30 cm x 150 cm or 40 cm x 180 cm. The platforms are supported by uprights and beams.

Stairs: Ladders allow workers to go up and down between platforms. It is usually 1 m wide and 2 m long. Ladders must be securely mounted on the scaffolding.

Railings: Guardrails are used to prevent workers from falling. It is usually 1 m high and consists of horizontal and vertical railings. Railings must be sturdy and safe
